Adding Document Previewer to ACT!

ACT! 2010 - 2012 (Version 12 - 14)

Can be used to add preview panel to documents TAB if you have Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Office 2007

Document Previewer allows you to see the contents of a document without having to open the document.

Problem:
The default option for the documents TAB is set to False (i.e. Not Available)

Solution:
Instead of having to open each document to view the following settings will allow you to preview the document in a separate pane inside the document TAB. There are a number of steps to achieve this configuration as setout below:

Note: Before attempting these changes you should make a backup of any files and read all the instructions fully before beginning.

    Step 1.  Close ACT!

    Step 2.  Open Windows Explorer.

    Step 3.  Navigate to C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows folder. Click on Link (This link assumes you have installed ACT! in the default directory)

    Step 4.  Open file ActSage.exe.config using Windows Notepad.

    Step 5.  Use the Edit, Find (Ctrl F3) to find the line with the words “DocumentPreviewPanel”

    Step 6.  Locate the value=”false” at the end of this line.

    Step 7.  Change this value to “True”.

    Step 8. Close and Save this file.

Step 9. Restart ACT! and if you select a document in the documents TAB a preview should be shown on the right hand side in the preview pane.
