Explorer Views

One of the shortcomings of windows 7 was that the selected folder was disabled in Windows Explorer's left pane.

Many have commented that this may have been a bug in Windows although the truth is this is how Microsoft shipped windows by default in Windows 7.

To show the the folder you need the change the options in the Folder options

    Step 1. Open Windows Explorer.

Step 2. Use the Alt key on your keyboard to bring up the menu. See example of menu

Step 3. Select the General TAB

Step 4. Tick the box “Automatically expand to current folder” in the section Navigation Pane. See example of screen.

Step 5. When you are done making changes tick on the OK button to apply.

Always display menus

Another annoying feature on Windows 7 if you use Explorer a lot is that it is OK to bring up the menu using the ALT key but what if you want the menu there all the time.

      Step 1. Open Windows Explorer.

Step 2. Use the Alt key on your keyboard to bring up the menu. See example of menu

Step 3. Select the View TAB

Step 4. Tick the box “Always show menus” near the top of the screen. See example of screen.

Step 5. When you are done making changes tick on the OK button to apply.
